How SmartAza works

A complete walkthrough — from creating a gift in the Owoche app to cashing it out on the web.

For senders

Sending a SmartAza

  1. Step 1 — Open the Owoche app

    SmartAza tokens are created exclusively from the Owoche mobile app — that's where you confirm the transaction PIN and your wallet is debited.

  2. Step 2 — Pick an occasion template

    Choose from 23+ designs (Birthday, Wedding, Christmas, Graduation…). Add a personal note to ride along with the gift card the recipient sees.

  3. Step 3 — Choose how it unlocks
    • Giveaway — whoever has the link can redeem. Best for raffles, social posts, public moments.
    • OTP-protected — the recipient must enter a one-time code (sent to their phone/email or shared by you) to unlock.
    • Sender-approved — every claim pings you in the app for explicit approval before the gift releases.
  4. Step 4 — Share the link or QR

    Send via WhatsApp, paste in a card, or print the QR. Anyone can scan and land here to redeem — no app install required.

For recipients

Redeeming a SmartAza

  1. Step 1 — Open the link or scan the QR

    You'll land on this site with a personalised gift card showing who sent it. No login. No signup.

  2. Step 2 — Prove the token is yours (if needed)

    Giveaway tokens unlock instantly. OTP-protected tokens ask for the code sent to you (or that the sender shared). Sender-approved tokens trigger an instant approval request to the sender's phone.

  3. Step 3 — Pick a destination
    • Bank account — paste your NUBAN, confirm the resolved name, done.
    • Owoche wallet — type your registered phone and we route the gift straight into your wallet.
    • Open in app — download Owoche and redeem there for extra perks.
  4. Step 4 — Get paid

    Bank transfers usually settle within a couple of minutes. Wallet credits are instant. You receive the full gift amount — the sender already paid the fee.

Security

What protects your gift

HMAC-signed requests

Every API call between smartaza.com.ng and Owoche is cryptographically signed and timestamp-bound. Replayed or tampered requests are rejected before they touch the ledger.

Audited ledger

Every claim is recorded as an append-only ledger entry inside Owoche. Funds move atomically — no half-state where money disappears between steps.

Single-use redemption

Each token can be claimed once (or up to a sender-configured slot count for giveaways). A successful claim immediately invalidates further attempts.

No PII handover

You don't sign up. We don't store identity beyond what the bank needs to settle. The sender never sees who redeemed.
